Good grief, I typed the whole response and then timed out and lost it. Let's try again.

First, thank you for the feedback. I'm hearing that the priorities are an accessible map, a way to turn off the prompt (easier to turn off than implement customizability), a way to see the monster's health without the full description, and a way to get directions to places without reading the lengthy help file. Then we can look at some specific items that rely on ascii layout – none are critical that I know of.

One of our programmers has said he'll take a look at revamping our map, with a toggle so you get the ascii version or the text version. It should work the way it does for seeing players, that is, showing a section of the nearby landscape. Maybe something like, You read the map. A city is 3 north and west of here. A dungeon is 2 east of here. A settlement is 2 south and 3 west of here."

Other things mentioned include gear saving, additional descriptions for things mentioned in room descriptions, a confusing sewer, ansi.

It is unlikely that gear saving will be implemented as our balance-structure is built around it not saving. However, after mortal suggestion and vote a while back, we increased the length of our reboot cycle from 26 hours to 49 hours. There are also many places where you can store or hide your equipment for when you return during that boot.

Our describe-all policy for rooms and items is part of our ambience, but for the most part, you only have to look at things if you are questing.

As for a confusing sewer, we do have at least one, but it's just as confusing for seeing people. I think the developer designed it that way. I don't go there too often.

We do have an 'ansi off' command to get rid of those annoying escape sequences.

As for a native Mac client, I've many thoughts on that, but that's a discussion for another day.
