| Thanks for the suggestion, but I played that mud and it is terrible for newbie friendly. There were a few people who helped me out, you being one of them, but it was still near impossible to figure anything out on my own. They just dump you into the game and that's that.. I wouldn't describe it as newbie friendly at all and for that reason it is far too much of a pian in the behind to get off the starting lines. I want a mud that I could get on even if there were 0 other players and figure it out. That's not to say I want 0 players, but I mean I want to be able to figure it out with as little help as possible. LegendMud doesn't even give you a list of starting areas, hints at newbie quests, where to find better starting gear than what you are initially given, nothing! It's just too much of a pain for my liking. Sometimes in real life you have to bust your butt trying to figure somethng out, but a game shouldn't be quite like that, at least not as a newbie. When you're new you know nothing about that particular game and you have to go through some sort of orientation, just as when you are a child you are taught first by your parents and then by attending school. Sorry this is a long message, but it's what I think and I am tempted to send it to the LegendMud immortals. Someone said they were planning to start a newbie school or somehting but have not yet. Perhaps if they do this, and put in directions to newbie zones or a list of newbie quests or something to help besides just character created, there ya go *dump* and leave you on your own, I might be tempted to come back and check it out. It does look like a very very nice mud and once you get the hang of it, it may be good, but it's not worth putting the effort into right now. Feel free to let me know if they make it more newbie friendly. Again sorry for such a long long message lol. As I said, I do appreciate the suggestion and I will keep an eye out on this mud for good newbie related changes. --- On Fri, 8/15/08, Kirstan Mooney <...> wrote: |
