Hey all,

Here's the top ten muds along with what I think about them. Send your oppinion about these muds, they're the most played muds in the world. Some are overrated, some are underrated in my oppinion. Look below, friends, for my personal oppinions.

 1.
Dark and Shattered Lands (DSL)

This mud has to be one of the most boring muds on the internet. I honestly wonder who the hell keeps voting for the thing - it's OldSchool in every way possible.
And lookie, 327! telnet connections! Sheeshe. That's more than Aardwolf and that game is a bit better than DSL.

This only gets 54 telnet connections a month? Well, I guess since everyone is using mud clients, and the people who vote are actually players. They don't usually go to the site to connect but I guess on DSL people who connect there go through the site to do the vote thing first. Overall, this ranks far better than DSL in my book.

 3.
MUME - Multi Users In Middle Earth

This mud is great, but I think there's better ones out there, and it's overrated.

If you're one of those people who don't like constantly killing all day, and would rather have quests verrying from rank to rank, this is the place for you. They also have real life events that go on for social interaction like word games etc to get in-game money. Best of all, they made text maps for the blind, thanks to me asking for them. Be sure to read the idiots guide to fed2 so you're not an idiot roming the vast universe of other player created planets and also game ones.

I remember playing someone on this mud, and the detail is  awesome. If you like roleplaying in the Lord of the Rings world, check this out. Please note that a description is required but honestly worth it in my oppinion. Hm. Shall I sit down and write up a plot for another char? That was a long time ago, so don't know if guidelines changed...
 6.
SlothMUD III

Just another oldschool clone again with features and skills motified. If you like OS muds and would like to Hack and Slash, with a few extra classes not found in the circle codebase go right ahead. Not my cup of tea though.
 7.
ZombieMUD

Zombie is a kick ass H&S mud. However, the classes are unbalanced, so I don't play it. If you do play, pick a necromancer because other classes against necromancer suck without them. That's what I meant by unbalanced.

I'm certainly surprised this mud isn't ranked number one. Hell, it's way better than DSL, I can tell you that much!

If you're a newbie to roleplaying, I suggest you look elsewhere. If you aren't, at the same time, be extremely careful. Players can roleplay with you and pretend that they're helping you, take you to the east side of your home city and slowly thrust a short-bladed daggerwhich is most comminly used  - through your backskin with such ease. So, you play here? Know what you're doing first.

I personally hate this mud. It's unrestricted PK, and players don't roleplay as expected. You get the picture, don't you?

So, what do you guys think about these muds? Send 'em in!
