Hi,
since I didn't realize that my last message was send to Orin instead of the list I'll send it here again, togehter with Orins answer that came also to my pm and a new answer from me.
I hope that's not to confusing. grin
Ok, here my message first...
Hi,
well, yes German Muds have some differences.
I play one of them for 1 and a half year now, it's called avalon.
There you can join a guild and besides learn as many proffecions as you like, as long as your level is high enough for that.
The quest there are great, not only the things about finding an item in the wilderness and bringing it to a cirtain NPC or killing a few mobs and the quest
is over.
The quest actually have a real story in which you participate, for example a great journy through the world to find the holy gral, with lots of stations and puzzles to solve on the way.
And you always know where to get informations on quests, so you don't run around aimlessly hoping to find a quest somewhere by accident. And you get enough
information at the beginning of a quest so you know what to do and where to go.
And at the end of every quest you get a message that tells you that you have solved a quest and get a reward in most cases.
I don't really like this area quests in the english muds where you don't even know that you just solved one.
And I don't like it either, that you often get no clue whatsoever where to find quests or what you have to do to solve it.
In the other german mud I play, it's called "Morgengrauen", it's the same with quest as in Avalon.
That's why I like these muds.
And when you are really stuck in a quest you can ask other players for help and there is no unnerving rule somewhere that tells you to solve the quests all alone and don't give any quest related information away.
And of course, you can choose different races in german muds as well and we also have tutorials for newbies where you learn the basics and even get your first quest to solve and some starting equipment.
Well, I'll leave it at that for now.
Perhaps someone played a english mud with a simular quest system than in the german muds and knows where to find it?
I want to have a list or something that tells me where to find the start of the quest or at least the name of it and where to get more information about it. I want a actuall story in the quest, not simply hack & slash or item searching without any clue where to look.
And I want real quests, not areas with hidden things where you don't even know that you just solved a quest.
If someone knows a mud with this type of quests in it, please let me know! And if you have further questions about german muds, just ask. :-) Regards
Sarah
And here the answer from Orin...
Hmm, I've played Avalon before. Isn't that where that guide takes you through those tutorials from acalights or something? That game rules. Might start
playing again but I'd need help.
And now my answer to this message and I hope it arives at the list this time. :-)
Well, you refer to the english mud Avalon, in which you are leaded through some acolide quests at the beginning.
I played it myself, but after the acolides there was the usual problem I have with these english muds. I didn't have any clue where to go or what to do next or where to find any quests, because there is no possibility to get any starting points for them or clues what to do.
But the german Mud called Avalon is a totally different one and has nothing to do with this one.
Regards
Sarah
